3 To-Dos for Shoe Shopping

Are you already thinking about holiday shoe shopping? We are, too! At PodiatryCare, PC and the Heel Pain Center, here’s our seasonal reminder of how to make the right shoe choices and avoid the hassles of returns and exchanges. One of our best recommendations for starting the right way is to do your homework. Here are your first three assignments:

Know your size

Please — don’t make the same mistake twice. Always check your shoe size before buying a new pair of shoes. If you are shopping online, read the reviews about the sizing. Is the shoe true to size, or does a pair run too small or too big? Whether you are shopping for yourself or a loved one, getting the right size the first time is the best plan for success.

Know your style

Are you most comfortable with a wider toe box? Is there a particular brand that provides the perfect balance of quality, support, and style? If you have found a shoe you love, why not buy another pair in a different color? Make every step count while protecting your feet and ankles.

Know your condition

Do you have diabetes? Choose a pair of shoes with a wide toe box. For patients who may need additional support with their steps, consider a custom orthotic. If circulation is an issue, be sure that your shoes aren’t too tight. Maintaining regular appointments with your podiatrist is one way to stay on top of changes with your feet.
