Spring Shoe Shopping
Spring is almost upon us! After a long, cold winter, most of us are eager for warm days out in the sun. If you’re planning on doing some spring cleaning and shopping, a great place to start is with your footwear. Looking for new running shoes, but having trouble finding the right pair? Here are some of our top tips for your next shoe-shopping trip and some things to keep in mind this spring!
Always Measure Your Feet
Our feet grow and change as we age. One of the most important steps you can take before you try on new shoes is to check your size. Ask a worker, friend, or family member to help you measure your foot in the store.
Try Them On
Find a pair you like in your size? Try them on! Make sure you put both pairs on and take a quick walk around the store. They’ll likely feel different in action than when you’re standing or sitting. Any pinching or uncomfortable spots? Try something else on.
Don’t Break Them In
Some people buy shoes with the intention of “breaking them in”. Not only is this painful, but it can have some dangerous side effects on your feet. If your shoes are uncomfortable the first time you try them on, don’t buy them! Go for another pair or another size.
Avoid Early Morning Shopping
You may like to get a head start on the day by hitting the stores early, but this isn’t the best idea when you’re shopping for new shoes. Your feet tend to swell as the day progresses. For the most comfortable fit, shop later in the day when your feet are the largest.
