Tips For Pain-Free Feet This Holiday Season

This year's holiday season is officially in full swing! While you might be filled with joy and excitement, it doesn’t necessarily mean the same for your feet. Between shopping, cooking, and traveling, our feet usually spend most of the holidays feeling sore. Luckily, there are ways you can prevent aches and pains, all while enjoying all your favorite activities with your loved ones! Here are our top tips for pain-free feet this holiday season.

Rest Your Feet

This one might seem obvious, but unfortunately, not all of us listen to our feet when they start aching. When your feet begin to feel pain from standing or walking around for a large portion of the day, it’s important to pay attention and rest your feet. Take a few minutes to sit, maybe elevate your feet or rub at any sore spots. Then continue your journey. If you find you have frequent foot pain, it may be a sign of a more serious problem. Call your podiatrist to check in.

Wear Comfortable Shoes

If you’re still doing some Christmas shopping, this tip can make a huge difference. But even if you’re inside cooking a holiday meal for your family, wearing shoes can offer the right support you need to get through the day. The right pair for you will feel comfortable the first time you try them on. If your feet feel sore at the end of the day, you may need a different pair of shoes. Or possibly a pair of custom orthotics, especially if you have diabetes or arthritis.

Take A Foot Bath

This is the best luxury treatment for your feet. Fill your bathtub up to ankle level with lukewarm water, pour in some Epsom salts, tea bags, or any other add-ins, and then rest your feet for 15-30 minutes. Foot baths not only help with inflammation and achy muscles but foot odor and calluses.
