Foot Changes That Could Cause a Scare
Change can be scary, but we know that it’s a part of life. What about when we see changes on our feet? Do you know which signs should cause concern? The doctors at PodiatryCare, PC and the Heel Pain Center have the answers to make your decision-making process a little easier.
My feet really hurt.
This is not a new reminder for our patients, but painful feet and ankles should not be a part of your life. It’s not normal. If you noticed that you not only have pain but that it is worsening, give us a call. Don’t ignore a change in pain intensity.
My toenails are changing colors.
There could be simple reasons for a new toenail color. From polish choice to a bruised toenail, we recommend getting the right answer the first time from a podiatrist. Toenail color changes can also be a sign of fungal infection, which can spread to your family members and friends. The infection can also spread to other toes.
My wounds aren’t healing as fast.
Have you noticed that the cut on your foot is still in the same state? When wounds aren’t healing, this could be a sign of a circulation problem. Patients with diabetes often manage concerns of wounds. Diabetic foot ulcers are also worth monitoring closely. Without intervention, they can worsen quickly and become infected.
If you see something new, say something to your podiatrist. Early detection is one of the best ways to avoid complications.
