Change Your Habits for Men’s Health Month

June is Men's Health Month, and we want to help men make a positive change in their foot health. Caring for our feet and ankles is extremely important, especially when preventing painful and difficult-to-manage conditions like diabetic neuropathy, plantar fasciitis, and Achilles tendonitis. The habits `]you can start right now will set your feet up for long-term success, leading you to an active, pain-free lifestyle for years to come. The doctors here at PodiatryCare, P.C., and the Heel Pain Center are here to share three ways to improve your foot health today.

Care For Your Foot Pain

Do your feet hurt? If the answer’s yes, it’s time to call your podiatrist. Foot or ankle pain is not normal and should be addressed. Take a good look at your feet daily and note any visible changes. Look for redness, swelling, cuts, or other indicators of foot injuries. Don't dismiss unhealthy feet, hoping all will return to normal with time.

Care For Your Shoes

Are you confident that your suspected shoe size is really your shoe size? Instead of guessing and complaining about too-tight shoes, get them professionally measured at your shoe store. Over time, our feet may swell or slightly increase in size because of medication or medical conditions, so measuring them once a year is a good idea.

Care For Your Hygiene

Are you washing your feet? We can be guilty of skipping over foot care in our daily routine. Be sure to include this step as you get ready for the day. Then, use a clean, dry towel to dry your feet. Finally, moisturize your feet, but avoid adding lotion between your toes. Having trouble remembering this step? Place your lotion in plain sight, somewhere likely to catch your eye daily.
