Keep Your Feet Sweat and Odor Free This Summer

Did you know our feet have over 250,000 sweat glands? This may become particularly obvious to you now that summer is almost upon us. Problems with sweaty, smelly feet will likely start soon, which may leave you worried about your summer plans. But with a few added foot care tricks and avoidance of certain habits, you can beat sweat and foot odor this summer!

Treat Your Feet

●      Wear clean socks made of cotton or another absorbent material and change them at least once daily; always wear socks with closed footwear to absorb sweat.

●      Wear clean footwear made of breathable materials to allow air circulation; alternate footwear and do not wear the same pair for consecutive days.

●      Clean feet daily with warm, soapy water, then rinse and dry well.

●      Apply powder to clean feet to help absorb excess moisture.

●      Soak feet daily to help control odor (Epsom salt, herbal, black tea, and vinegar foot soak remedies are recommended).

Further Complications

Some people may brush off any sweat and foot odor this summer. But we highly recommend you address it and do whatever you can to prevent it! Leaving your feet to fend for themselves may cause the following conditions to develop:

●      Athlete’s foot

●      Body odor

●      General fungal problems

●      Bacterial infections

●      Discomfort

●      Toenail fungus
